New Signs at AAA
On October 18, Kelly and Walt installed new signs at AAA. The new signage has two purposes. First, it reminds users of the rules that must be followed to maintain a good relationship with the landowner (such as no fires and no camping). Second, the signs provide a venmo link to make a suggested $5 donation per visit. This will go towards (1) purchasing the yearly insurance that is required for AAA to remain opened, and (2) general crag maintenance.

Upper Peninsula Climbers Coalition Wins Sharp End Award- 2015
Access Fund is pleased to present Upper Peninsula Climbers Coalition (UPCC) with a Sharp End Award for successfully opening the AAA Wall and Secret Crag in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to climbing. The area was closed in 2014 due to liability concerns, and UPCC’s dedicated group of volunteer board members formalized the organization as a nonprofit in order to partner with landowners as a united front for the climbing community. UPCC partnered with a local timber company to secure a recreational license that reopened the AAA Walls to climbing.
AAA Wall - 2014/15
June 24, 2015. Marquette, MI – The Upper Peninsula Climbers Coalition (UPCC) and the Access Fund are pleased to announce that the historic AAA Walls are reopened to recreational climbing.
The area was closed in June of 2014 due to liability concerns. UPCC and Access Fund began working with the landowners—Longyear Realty Corporation, a Marquette-based company that owns the AAA Walls and surrounding timberlands—to allow limited public access.
We now need the help of climbers and outdoor enthusiasts in the Upper Peninsula and surrounding region to assist UPCC in raising $5,000 towards the annual costs of liability insurance, signage, stewardship, and management.

Palmer/ Slugg's Bluff Work Session - 2012
Palmer is a beautiful bluff well known for its great trad climbing and it's local party spot. Over the years there have been everything from bottles to refrigerators and boats thrown off the cliff. The UPCC reached out to the property owners asking if we could help clean up their property as a sign of appreciation of the use of their land. We had a dozen people show up to help clean up the property, do a little trail maintenance and post some signage about respecting the landowners property and the inherent dangers of climbing.
