Slug Fest Recap
The Inaugural Slug Fest was created to celebrate Michigan's First Climber-Owned Climbing Area. There were MORE than 100 participants and amazing support from the local community. This event will improve each year! If you have ideas of how we could have improved Slug Fest, please send an email to [email protected]. For now, below is the recap. . . .
Yoga and Shoe Demos!
Service Projects
Slug’s Bluff was acquired by a generous donation from the Arbelius Family (who attended Slug Fest!!!). As a way to say thanks, we broke ground on a community garden, which is in the same location as Slug’s original garden.
We also began installing upgraded anchor hardware —Fixe Dragos, so that cleaning it easier, safer, and generally better!

Clinics
Participants were able to tare clinics on various topics, such as rappelling, trad climbing, sport climbing, belaying, self rescue, and anchor cleaning.
The Community and the Cade
A huge part of climbing is the community. We held the evening climbing social and silent auction at the Cade, which ROCKED. The food and hospitality was perfect. THe silent auction raised nearly $2,000 to help improve Slug’s Bluff.
