Slug's Bluff

In 2022, the UPCC acquired Michigan's first climber-owned crag. Click HERE to learn more.

AAA WALL

AAA is a historic crag in Big Bay, Michigan. Currently, the area has more than 15 quality sport routes, and many good trad routes.

In 2015, the UPCC, in conjunction with the Access Fund, was successful in reopening this area after the landowner closed it due to liability concerns. This area has unique rules, so make sure to click HERE before heading out.

Also, we are required to maintain insurance on this area. So please consider donating or joining.

SILVER MOUNTAIN

Silver Mountain is one of the premier midwest climbing areas, and it is located in the Ottawa National Forest.

The UPCC has worked closely with the Access Fund and the Ottawa National Forest to preserve this area.

UPCOMING - The UPCC and Access Fund will spend several months creating hardscaped trails and belay stations with natural rock from the area. This will likely occur in 2023-2024, as we have received a favorable environmental study which was required prior to work commencing.

PRESQUE ISLE

Presque Isle has some of the most unique climbing in Michigan, and certainly the most beautiful. This gem was at risk of closure over liability concerns by the City of Marquette. However, due to a strong outpouring of advocates, cooler heads ultimately prevailed and this area remained open.

MEMORIAL FALLS

Memorial Falls and Window Waltz are two historic ice climbs located within the City Limits of Munising. They are fun climbs with a short approach. This property was acquired by the Michigan Nature Association and it decided to prohibit climbing. The UPCC is currently working to reopen this area.  Click HERE to learn more.

NEGAUNEE ICE PARK

The UPCC, in conjunction with the City of Negaunee and County of Marquette, are working on plans to establish an ice park in an old quarry.
